Integrating Epic Into a Leading Healthcare Network
Enhancing the network of a growing healthcare provider with over 100,000 skilled and compassionate caregivers operating over 50 hospital campuses to ensure they could easily and flexibly deliver continual service with the utmost privacy and compliance.
Problem
This large healthcare provider was preparing to upgrade its EMR system to Epic. With
more than two hundred thousand people needing access, the organization faced a
high-stakes challenge: ensuring every user received the correct permissions - no more,
no less. With complex privacy and compliance needs, any error could expose personal
medical data or hinder patient care.
The complexity increased as staff frequently changed roles, some held multiple positions,
and the access model needed to adapt dynamically without disrupting clinical operations.
Solution
Working closely with their team and understanding their current capabilities, we delivered
a comprehensive solution by integrating Epic with the hospital’s existing Identity
Management system, then enhancing the connections with automation features tailored to
their needs. By implementing a role-based access model, we enabled precise, scalable
permissions that aligned seamlessly with their established workflows. When the hospital
later migrated to a new Identity Management platform, we again ensured continuity by
extending and refining the connectors so that behavior remained consistent and reliable
across the transition.
